New appointment to the Terrafame Management Team

Kristian Granit M.Sc. (Eng.) has been appointed Chief Refining Officer and member of the Management Team at Terrafame Ltd as of 1 October 2019. Mr Granit has been with the company since 2015 and at the site since 2007. He currently works as a department manager of metals production plant. In his new role, Kristian Granit will be reporting to Terrafame Ltd CEO Joni Lukkaroinen.

“The investment decision on the construction of the battery chemicals plant was taken in autumn 2018. The project has progressed according to plan and construction of the buildings in the main processing areas is currently underway. Commercial production is set to start at the new plant in early 2021, and once completed, the plant will be one of the largest manufacturers of battery chemicals in the world.

I am delighted that we have found the right person to head up the battery chemicals plant from within the organisation; Kristian Granit has a great deal of managerial experience from production and chemical processes. Over the course of the coming year, work will be underway to put together a 120–150-strong team of chemical process and maintenance professionals to staff the battery chemicals plant’s production organisation, and I wish Kristian the very best of success in building this team,” states Terrafame Ltd CEO Joni Lukkaroinen.

“I’m eager to put my expertise to good use in tackling a brand new challenge. When the new plant is up and running, it will allow us to expand Terrafame’s operations further downstream: our metal production plant’s current main product will be refined into battery chemicals, which will be sold as raw materials for the manufacturing of electric car batteries. We will start work on putting together the production organisation immediately, through both internal and external recruitment,” explains Kristian Granit, Terrafame’s Chief Refining Officer as of 1 October 2019.
