Terrafame joins domestic water supply network

Terrafame has joined the water supply network and is now obtaining domestic water from the local Jormasjoki water cooperative (Jormasjoen vesiosuuskunta). Water from the water supply network will be used only for domestic purposes such as cooking, drinking and washing. Domestic water will not be used in the production process.

"The number of people working in our industrial area has increased alongside the growth in our operations, and our need for domestic water has risen. We have just completed the construction work on the network connection and can now better focus on our core business in this respect too," comments Joni Lukkaroinen, CEO of Terrafame.

Terrafame has been drawing domestic water from its own drilled well until now. However, because Finnish well water typically contains iron, connecting to the water supply network was seen as a more practical solution. Joining the water supply network also offers increased operational reliability.

T 15-kilometre long water pipeline from the Jormasjoki water cooperative’s network to the industrial area was built by Terrafame. Like other water users, the company will pay the water cooperative for the amount of water it uses.
